Climate
Midsummer temperatures range from 23"C to 38"C. Autumn to spring is a more pleasant time to visit the park when daytime temperatures averate 19"C. Night time in winter brings very cold temperatures down to as ow as 4"C.
Location and Access
The park is situated 132 km west of Alice Springs Via Larapinta Drive and the Glen Helen Road. These are sealed but the access road leading into the park is gravel surfaced and may be closed sometimes due to flooding.
Commercial tours from Alice Springs visit the park regularly.

Kakadu National Park
Climate
Kakadu has two distinct seasons; a wet, hot season from November to March, and a dry, cooler season for the rest of the year. June to August is the best time to visit.
Facilities
There are eleven camping areas in the park, five accept caravans, and all have tolets and fireplaces, however powered sites are not available. Muirella park,East Alligator and Mardugal Camping Areas are the most developed with showers an other facilities, and are very popular during school holidays and peak visitor times.Four sites are now open throughout the wet season. Bush camping is allowed, bu a permit must be obtained from the ranger.

Finke Gorge National Park
Location and Access
Finke Gorge National Park is situated 138 km west of Alice Springs. Most of Alice Springs. Most of the road is unsealed and for the last 16 km a four-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended. After rains this section may be temporarily impassable.
Flora
The park was established to protect the

Australian plants established there, especially the cycads and cabbage palms growing in thedamp gorges, relics of a much wetter time. Ghost gums, ferns and mossesalso grow along the gorges contrasting with the bare cliffs and
barren ranges beyond.
Fauna
Abundant bird life can be seen including cockatoos, wedge-tailed eagles, the blac-faced cuckoo-shrike and the musical pied butcher bird. Many reptiles and a variety of freshwater fish are to be found while mammals include kangaroos, wallabies, euros and dingoes
